Bubic was established in 2003 as a peer support group for ex-crack cocaine users. Over the next two years Bubic became established as an effective community-based agency and in 2005 was nominated for a New Deal for Communities Award and won the Community Safety Peace week Award for the best crime reduction initiative.
With funding from the Haringey Drug and Alcohol Team and the Bridge New Deal for Communities Bubic developed it’s peer group support programme and recruited and trained staff and volunteers to outreach to and work with drug services. In 2007 Bubic was the London Region finalist in the Home Office Drugs Team Awards and following the decision to become a registered organisation formalised itself into a charity with a volunteer management committee. In early 2008 Bubic moved to its new offices in Bruce Grove.
